When do vision foundation models transfer to microscopy and when do they fail?

Date:

In November 2026, I will give a 15-minute oral presentation titled “When do vision foundation models transfer to microscopy and when do they fail?” at the Crick BioImage Analysis Symposium (CBIAS) 2026, held at the Francis Crick Institute in London.

The talk discusses when vision foundation models provide representations that transfer well to microscopy data, and where they break down. It focuses on electron microscopy segmentation, cross-dataset transfer, and the limits of lightweight adaptation strategies such as LoRA.

The talk builds on our LMRL workshop paper at ICLR 2026:

I will update this page with the slides after the symposium.
