Deep Learning for Microscopy Image Analysis
🎓 Institution: Janelia Research Campus (HHMI)
📘 Course: DL@Janelia 2026
👩🏫 Role: Teaching Assistant
🗓️ Dates: 4-18 June 2026
💻 Exercises repository: DL-Janelia-2026
I served as a teaching assistant in the 2026 edition of Deep Learning for Microscopy Image Analysis, a two-week hands-on bootcamp designed to help life science researchers learn and apply state-of-the-art deep learning methods for microscopy.
During the first week, I supported the practical exercise sessions built around the DL-Janelia-2026 materials. I taught the first exercise, Boot, and helped participants work through several of the later exercises as they developed familiarity with the core tools, workflows, and concepts introduced in the course.
During the second week, the course shifted to a project-based format where participants developed analysis pipelines for their own datasets. As a TA, I helped students translate the concepts from the first week into concrete project plans, supporting them with problem formulation, workflow design, and application of the methods learned throughout the bootcamp.
Highlights
- Taught the first practical exercise, Boot, during the hands-on training week.
- Supported participants across multiple deep learning exercises for microscopy image analysis.
- Helped students develop project-specific pipelines for their own biological imaging data during the second week.
